Everard Read, Cape Town Wishes You A Happy New Year For 2012!




Everard Read is delighted to be taking part in India´s Modern & Contemporary Art Fair. This will take place in New Delhi from the 26 to 29 January.

Artists who will be exhibited include Beezy Bailey, Deborah Bell, Phillemon Hlungwani, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Caryn Scrimgeour, Angus Taylor and Leigh Voigt.

We kick off our local exhibitions for the year with Christopher Slack´s ´Transformation´. At first glance, Slack´s latest works appear to be composed of urban pop imagery: skulls, terrorists, splatters, graffiti. Slack´s primary interest, though, is the field of human psychology, focusing specifically on the inner experience of the individual. Ancient symbols merge with an unmistakeably modern aesthetic to produce works layered with centuries of human existence.
